Mike Jenkins Future with the Cowboys?

Mike Jenkins 25th pick in the 2008
Mike Jenkins is coming into his final year of his contract with the Cowboys. After a lack luster year in 2010, Jenkins (although plagued with a nagging shoulder injury) played the entire season and played considerably better than his awful 2010 campaign. The Cowboys drafted Morris Claiborne with the 6th pick last night in the draft which now gives the Cowboys, four solid Defensive Backs.

Brandon Carr who was signed to a 50 Million dollar deal in March, and Orlando Scandrick round out the cowboys corner-back position. Jenkins proved he can be a shutdown pro bowl type corner with his 2009 season which saw Jenkins intercept 5 passes. Although Jenkins will be looking for a max deal next summer, I think the Cowboys should wait it out until next summer and see what they can do with Jenkins then. rookie corners usually blossom in there second and third year when able to watch as well as play.

Claiborne and Scandrick at the slot position, should be enough reps for Claiborne to get his feet wet. Jenkins is a pretty good corner, and waiting until maybe mid-season (depending how Claiborne does) or next off-season should be a likely scenario the cowboys should do.
